About the Department: The City of Rocky Mount's Fire Department is ready to respond to emergency calls 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. At any hour of the day, Rocky Mount firefighters can be seen outside any of the City's 7 fire stations cleaning and maintaining the City's investment in emergency apparatus, conducting training exercises, assisting citizens and/or visitors, performing pre-plans, conducting public fire education events, or a number of other activities that enhance the public safety.
The Rocky Mount Fire Department provides fire suppression, rescue and emergency medical services, hazardous materials mitigation, technical rescue, code enforcement, fire investigation, and public education to the city of Rocky Mount. DEFINITION: This position performs firefighting and emergency medical duties in response to fire, medical, and other emergency situations.
REPORTS TO: The Fire Captain assigns work in terms of general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with procedures, accuracy, and the nature and propriety of the final results.

The incumbent (s) for these positions can be hired in any of the following as either a Full-Time or Part-Time Compacity based on the needs and requirements of the Fire department, as well as the experience and qualification of candidates.

PAY RANGE (FOR FULL TIME ONLY)
Firefighter / EMT: $54,943.92 - $82,415.88
Firefighter / Certified: $52,327.54 - $78,491.32
PAY RANGE (PART - TIME ONLY)
Firefighter / Certified: $17.96
Firefighter / EMT I: $18.86
