Alabaster Fire Department is seeking dedicated, courageous, and service-minded individuals to join our professional fire team. Testing Dates: November 6th or November 7th

Starting Pay: Rates are based on a 2,704-hour annual work schedule.

• Fire Recruit: $18.74 per hour

• Firefighter: $20.67 per hour

• Firefighter-Paramedic: $22.78 per hour

• Experienced Certified Firefighters: Experience-based pay placement available

Firefighter Selection Process

Applications will be reviewed to confirm that minimum qualifications have been met. Qualified applicants will be invited to participate in:

• A written examination administered by the City of Alabaster Human Resources Department

• A physical abilities test administered by the Alabaster Fire Department

• A panel interview with representatives of the Alabaster Fire Department and Human Resources

Candidates must successfully complete each required phase to advance in the selection process.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must:

• Be at least 18 years of age

• Possess a high school diploma or GED

• Possess and maintain a valid Alabama driver's license

• Obtain and maintain certification as a Firefighter I and II through the Alabama Fire College and Personnel Standards Commission within one year of employment

• Obtain and maintain an Alabama Department of Public Health, Office of EMS, Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic license within three years of employment
