West Sound Workforce is partnering with a renowned healthcare facility in Lakewood to source a temporary Firestop Technician to support their team. Known for delivering compassionate care and state-of-the-art programs across the Puget Sound, this organization is committed to creating healthier communities and serving those in need.

Reporting to the Facilities Manager, this role supports facility maintenance and life safety compliance within an active hospital setting. The primary focus is firestopping and commercial drywall repair. As a Firestop Technician, you will work in occupied environments, navigating overhead and confined spaces while completing work in accordance with applicable codes, UL systems, and manufacturer specifications. This role is well suited to someone who values quality workmanship, stays organized, communicates clearly, and follows established procedures.

Shift information:
  • Monday – Friday 6 am – 2:30 pm
What you will do as a Firestop Technician:
  • Install, repair, and restore firestopping systems for wall, floor, and ceiling penetrations to maintain fire resistance ratings
  • Identify, seal, and document penetrations related to piping, conduit, ductwork, and other building systems
  • Perform commercial drywall repairs, including patching, taping, mudding, sanding, and finish work to match existing surfaces
  • Safely access and work in overhead and ceiling spaces using ladders, lifts, or other approved equipment
  • Inspect completed work for quality and compliance, document results, and coordinate follow up needs with facilities staff and other trades
What we are looking for:
  • Prior experience with firestopping systems; certification required, or equivalent commercial drywall repair experience
  • Ability to work safely in confined and overhead spaces, including extended use of ladders or scaffolding
  • Working knowledge of construction safety practices and proper use of required PPE
  • Physical ability to lift, carry, and maneuver tools, materials, and equipment as needed
  • Strong attention to detail and a consistent focus on workmanship quality
