Firewatch / General Laborers, Vigor Shipyard Seattle

Pay: $24.00 per hour. Anything worked over 40 hours is overtime. (Time and a half pay.)

Expected hours: 84 HOURS PER WEEK. 12 HOUR SHIFTS, 7 DAYS A WEEK FOR 3 MONTHS.

Join our dynamic team at a prominent shipyard as a Firewatch / General Laborer, where safety, vigilance, and hands-on support are at the forefront of every project. In this vital role, you will serve as the first line of defense in fire safety, monitoring work areas to prevent hazards and ensure compliance with safety protocols. Your energetic presence will help maintain a secure environment for all personnel while supporting construction and maintenance activities. Duties

• Maintain constant fire watch during hot work activities such as welding, cutting, or grinding to prevent fires and respond swiftly if hazards arise
• Conduct regular inspections of work zones to identify potential fire risks or unsafe conditions
• Monitor designated areas for unauthorized access and enforce security protocols to safeguard personnel and equipment
• Assist with construction inspection tasks to ensure compliance with safety standards and project specifications
• Collaborate with construction teams to coordinate safety measures during various phases of shipyard projects
• Maintain detailed logs of fire watch activities, inspections, and any incidents or hazards observed

Skills

• Strong understanding of security procedures and emergency response protocols
• Experience in inspection and adherence to safety standards in industrial environments
• Ability to identify potential hazards quickly and communicate effectively with team members
• Physical stamina to perform labor-intensive tasks in outdoor maritime settings
• Excellent attention to detail combined with proactive problem-solving skills

Day shift starts between 5am - 6am. Swing starts between 2pm – 3pm.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract, Temporary.
