Description of Job Duties

  1. Maintaining electronic records including files on Box and databases of first-gen students and alumni. Student database is used to track outreach efforts, attendance at workshops, scholarship eligibility, meetings with faculty mentors, retention, etc.

  2. Ongoing outreach and relationship building with all first-generation students related to Cardinal First.

  3. Assisting with planning and implementation of Cardinal First cohort workshops as assigned, including communications, RSVPs, food and paper produce ordering, logistics, including room set up requests, name tags, table set up, clean up, and attendance monitoring.

  4. Mentoring of first-gen students in assigned cohorts through one-on-one meetings each semester.

  5. Ambassador Selection and Development • Assisting with selection and leadership development for Cardinal First Student Leadership Team

  6. Managing Cardinal First social media channels, content, and implementing strategy.

  7. Assisting with all first-gen related initiatives including Cardinal First cohort workshops, First-gen Academic Groups, First-gen Celebration Week, and special initiatives.

  8. Assisting with assessment and data collection.

  9. Pricing, ordering, and distributing Cardinal First planners, calendars, t-shirts, water bottles, pens, etc.

  10. Representing Office of First-Gen programs at Admission Visit Days, campus presentations, and committees.

  11. Assisting the First-gen Staff and the other Graduate Assistant as needed.

  12. Miscellaneous duties as assigned to improve the first-gen student experience and advance outcomes for first-generation students.

Attention to Detail Keen attention to detail in all tasks, ensuring accuracy in event planning, data management, and communications.

Project Management Demonated ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, including scheduling, event registration, food ordering, and resource coordination.

Relationship-building Skills Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with first-generation students, faculty, staff, and external partners.

Commitment to Quality Strong work ethic with a commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes in all aspects of work from program development to event execution.

Mission-driven Passionate about and committed to the mission of supporting first-generation college students through education, engagement, and advocacy.

Problem-solving Abilities Ability to anticipate challenges, offer creative solutions, and adapt quickly to evolving needs in a dynamic environment.

Time Management Skills Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting.

Experience with Social Media and Digital Tools Proficiency in using social media platforms, digital communication tools, and event management software to promote programs and engage students.
