CERTIFICATION: Elementary Education - DPI license

JOB LOCATION: Schurz Elementary School

DATES: October 6, 2026 - November 20, 2026 (approximately)

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Qualified candidates should possess:

• Experience teaching Math and Literacy with strong knowledge of best practices;
• Demonstrates commitment to dual language education and understands the role of English instruction in a bilingual setting;
• Uses culturally and linguistically responsive practices to support multilingual and diverse learners;
• Collaborates closely with grade-level and dual language teaching partners to align instruction and classroom culture;
• Uses data to inform instruction and support student growth, particularly in literacy and math;
• Builds strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues to foster a supportive learning environment;
• Engages in ongoing professional learning and contributes positively to schoolwide initiatives and climate.

THE SCHOOL: Schurz Elementary is a 4K-5 building with an enrollment of approximately 220 students, approximately 60 staff members, and a growing Dual Language program.

THE DISTRICT: Selected candidate will help to further the WUSD mission to serve our students by providing educational opportunities to promote academic excellence and a lifelong love of learning and to lead families, students and staff in realizing the WUSD vision of inspired learners through student-centered education strengthened by community involvement.

The Watertown School District has an enrollment of approximately 3,000 students taught in seven buildings.

THE COMMUNITY: The Watertown community has 24,000 residents and is located on the Rock River approximately halfway between Madison and Milwaukee, at the junction of Highways 16, 19, and 26.
