Job Description

Well respected Insurance Defense Firm with offices located throughout the State of Florida is currently seeking a First Party Property Paralegal to work onsite at its Orlando, Florida office to support attorney(s) through the life-cycle of litigation cases.  This AV Rated firm offers comprehensive insurance coverage and defense services, policy analysis and interpretation as well as defense against claim litigation. Paralegal duties include but are not limited to: evaluating and breaking down claim files, drafting file memorandums identifying facts and legal issues, drafting responses to written discovery requests including Interrogatories, Request for Production, and Request for Admissions, drafting written discovery requests including Interrogatories, Request for Production, and Request for Admissions, Identifying privileged and non-privileged documents and preparing Privilege Logs, preparing discovery motions and correspondence related to discovery issues, preparing Notices and Non-Party Production and Subpoenas, preparing Notices of Taking Deposition Duces Tecum and Subpoenas, preparing settlement agreements and releases, preparing Proposals for Settlement and Danis letters, interviewing fact witnesses and expert witnesses, doing legal research and property records searches using Lexis and other on-line forums, accomplish law firm mission by completing other duties as needed.

Required Skills/Qualifications:

  • Must have at least two (2) years of paralegal experience in civil litigation.  The preferred candidate will have at least two (2) years of paralegal experience with property insurance litigation. 
  • Florida Registered Paralegal, or Certificate in Paralegal Studies from an accredited paralegal program
  • Must have working knowledge of Florida Rules of Civil Procedure and Florida Rules of Judicial Administration
  • Must have working knowledge of: Microsoft Office Suite
  • Must have working knowledge of Time Matters, Juris billing program, and Lexis Nexis, Florida Evidence Code, Florida Insurance Code
  • Must have excellent organizational, time management, and planning skills
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must have strong computer proficiency
  • Must be detail oriented, dependable and able to keep confidential case and client matters
