Description

The Lee County Visitor & Convention Bureau (VCB) is seeking an experienced and collaborative financial leader to serve as Fiscal Manager. This full-time, on-site role in downtown Fort Myers plays a critical part in safeguarding the public funds that support one of Florida's premier tourism destinations.

Working closely with the Executive Director and VCB leadership team, the Fiscal Manager oversees all fiscal operations, including TDT fund accounting, budgeting, grants, procurement, contracts, accounts payable, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, sound judgment, and exceptional interpersonal skills, balancing compliance with customer service while strengthening processes and fostering a positive, high-performing team culture.

Duties and Responsibilities

What You Will Do

Financial Management and Oversight

  • Manage all fiscal operations for the Visitor & Convention Bureau (VCB).
  • Lead the accounting and reporting functions for Tourist Development Tax (TDT) revenues.
  • Develop, monitor, and manage annual operating and capital budgets.
  • Administer Sports Development funding, including accounting, compliance, and reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with public-sector financial regulations, laws, and County policies.
  • Strengthen internal financial controls, processes, and workflows.
  • Prepare, review, and present financial reports for leadership and stakeholders.

Grants, Procurement, and Contracts

  • Supervise grant compliance, including tracking, documentation, reconciliation, and reporting.
  • Manage procurement activities in accordance with County purchasing policies.
  • Oversee contract development, review, administration, and compliance.
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of accounts payable and related financial transactions.

Leadership and Team Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the fiscal team to maintain a positive, high-performing culture.
  • Provide strategic financial guidance to support leadership decision-making and operational excellence.
  • Foster trusted working relationships through clear, effective communication.

Collaboration and Process Improvement

  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to support operational and customer-service needs.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement.
  • Leverage technology to enhance efficiency and modernize financial workflows.

Education, Experience, Licensing

What Were Looking For

Minimum Requirements

  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, or closely related field (Business Administration, Public Administration, Economics, Management Information Systems, or Management)
  • Two (2) years of finance-related experience in accounting, budgeting, auditing, or other closely related financial work
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools
  • Five (5) years of finance-related experience in accounting, budgeting, auditing, or other closely related financial work
  • Two (2) years of supervisory experience
  • Valid Florida Class E drivers license with an acceptable driving record

Knowledge & Skills

  • Proven ability to build collaborative cross-department relationships while ensuring strong fiscal accountability
  • Experience in governmental accounting, budgeting, procurement, contracts, and grants management
  • Knowledge of special revenue fund accounting, particularly in local government or destination marketing organizations
  • Experience administering grants, ensuring regulatory compliance, and coordinating audits
  • Hands-on experience with accounts payable, P-card administration, travel reimbursements, marketing invoicing, contract payments, and international wire transfers
  • Demonstrated success leading professional staff and developing high-performing, collaborative teams
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, use sound judgment, and communicate complex financial information clearly
  • Experience improving financial processes through technology, automation, or workflow enhancement
  • Professional certifications such as CPA, CGFO, or CGFM are highly desirable

Supplemental Information

Work Environment

Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Occasional evening, weekend, and holiday work may be required to support departmental operations, meetings, and special events. Limited travel between County facilities and local meeting locations may also be required.
