Aquila's Fitness Specialist (as-needed) assists members in safe and effective exercise and performs a wide range of technical exercise and administrative duties in health/fitness center. Pay rate: $22.36/hour Work hours: As needed hours which will fall within Monday-Friday workweek and fitness center hours of 7 am to 7 pm, on an as needed basis. Responsibilities include: - Supervise exercise areas
- Educate members concerning safe exercise techniques
- Perform exercise assessments and prescribe exercise upon American College of Sports Medicine guidelines
- Conduct safe and effective assessments including cardiovascular, strength, flexibility and body composition analysis; evaluate and interpret data and identify high risk participants and special populations
- Aid members - spotting and equipment usage
- Explain all equipment
- Ensure the maintenance, cleanliness and safety of all equipment
- Adhere to departmental and club policies and procedures
- Adhere to client’s policies and procedures
- Attend staff meetings
- Assist in wellness and fitness promotions and external events
- Perform daily administrative duties
Qualifications: - Active NCCA accredited fitness certification (ACE, NASM, NCCPT, NCSF, AFAA, ACSM or NSCA) - required
- B.S. in Exercise Physiology or in related health/fitness field (preferred)
- CPR certification - required
- 0-1 years experience in supervising adults during exercises
