Fitter Welder – 2nd Shift

Shift: 2nd Shift | Monday–Friday | 1:30 PM – 10:00 PM
Pay: $22.00–$25.00 per hour (Based on Experience)
Employment Type: Temp-To-Hire

Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled Fitter Welder to join our fabrication team on 2nd shift. This position is responsible for laying out, fitting, aligning, and tack welding pipe components in preparation for final welding. The ideal candidate is experienced in blueprint reading, MIG welding, and maintaining high standards of quality and safety in a manufacturing environment.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, weld symbols, and work instructions to determine welding requirements.

  • Lay out, fit, align, and assemble pipe and structural components according to specifications.

  • Perform MIG tack welding to secure components for final welding.

  • Bolt, clamp, and position materials to ensure proper alignment and fit.

  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment safely and effectively.

  • Perform visual and dimensional inspections using measuring tools to verify quality and accuracy.

  • Ensure all work meets company quality standards, specifications, and production requirements.

  • Complete required production paperwork and update computer records accurately.

  • Follow all company safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.

  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Minimum of 2 years of fitter/tack welding experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.

  • Proficient in reading blueprints and interpreting weld symbols.

  • Strong MIG welding and fitting experience.

  • Ability to successfully complete an internal welding test.

  • Experience using basic measuring tools and performing quality inspections.

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.

  • Reliable attendance and strong work ethic.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for the majority of a 10-hour shift.

  • Frequently lift and carry up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.

  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, grip, and perform repetitive hand movements throughout the workday.

  • Ability to maintain balance while working around fabrication equipment.

  • Manual dexterity required for handling tools, parts, and materials.

  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, heat, and moving equipment.

  • Must have close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
