Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Fitter Welder for our client close to Decatur,AL. You will perform a variety of operational functions in various types of weld preparation, welding as and weld finishing operations to manufacture product to customer drawings and specifications. This is a great opportunity to work with a leading automotive manufacturer while building your long-term career.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints to determine the specific welding requirements.
- Must be proficient in Mig welding techniques
- Client out, position, align and fit components together according to blueprints, written and verbal instructions.
- Bolt, clamp, and tack-weld parts to secure in position for final welding. • Use a variety of hand and power tools as needed.
- Must be able to perform visual inspection and dimensional inspection using basic measuring tools. Comply with all quality policies, specifications, regulations and instructions.
- Update computer records and paperwork in accordance with production requirements.
- Strictly follow safety protocols, including wearing proper PPE.
- Must have a working command of the English language and be able to communicate orally and in writing.
- Maintain work area in a clean, orderly condition.
- Perform all other duties, as assigned.
Requirements
- Ability to perform essential duties.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of two years of fitter tacking experience.
- Proficiency in reading blueprints and understanding weld symbols.
- Successful completion of an internal welding test.
- Self-motivated and requires minimal supervision.
- Consistent and timely attendance.
- Must accurately read tape measure (assessment given).
- Strong work ethic, good attendance, and ability to follow instructions.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and work occasional overtime.
- Steel-toed boots required.
- Must pass background & drug screening.
