At Schwab, you're empowered to make an impact on your career. Here, innovative thought meets creative problem solving, helping us challenge the status quo and transform the finance industry together.

The Treasury Trading team delivers market expertise, liquidity access, and execution support across fixed income products. As a Fixed Income Trader on the Treasury desk, you'll support daily trading activity across U.S. Treasury products, partner with experienced traders, and help provide timely market insight and execution quality for clients and business partners. This is an opportunity to build specialized fixed income expertise in a collaborative, high-accountability trading environment where sound judgment, analytical thinking, risk awareness, and clear communication drive shared success.

In this role, you will help the team deliver that support by:

  • Support daily U.S. Treasury trading activity across Bills, Notes, Bonds, TIPS, STRIPS, and Floating Rate Notes.
  • Execute client trades on both an agency and principal basis while upholding best execution standards.
  • Assist with pricing, live bid/offer markets, liquidity sourcing, and trade inquiry flow across Schwab's fixed income platforms.
  • Monitor market levels, pricing, inventory, and risk exposure to support sound trading decisions throughout the day.
  • Analyze real-time market data and news flow to help inform trade execution and support sound trading decisions.
  • Communicate timely market color, trade updates, and issue escalations with senior traders, Sales & Service partners, Operations, Risk, Compliance, Technology, and Product teams.
  • Contribute to trading platform enhancements, reporting improvements, operational controls, and adherence to desk procedures, firm policies, and applicable regulatory requirements.

What you have

Your background may include fixed income trading, portfolio management, sales, operations, risk, or another financial markets function. What matters most is how you apply fixed income knowledge, trade execution discipline, risk awareness, analytical thinking, and communication to support clients and contribute to the U.S. Treasury fixed income trading team.

Required qualifications:

  • Series 7 and 63/66 licenses are required or must be obtained within 90 days of hire as a condition of employment.
  • Strong understanding of the U.S. Treasury market and U.S. Treasury securities.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, manage competing priorities and operate effectively in a fast-paced trading environment.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to ask thoughtful questions, escalate issues appropriately and communicate clearly under time-sensitive conditions.
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with senior traders, internal business partners and external market participants.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of fixed income trading, portfolio management, or related financial markets experience preferred; candidates with transferable analytical, risk, operations, or sales experience are also encouraged to apply.
  • Working knowledge of fixed income risk concepts, including duration, interest-rate sensitivity, convexity and yield curve dynamics.
  • Experience working with Bloomberg, including functions and tools such as FIT, ALLQ, TOMS and/or other fixed income analytics.
  • Familiarity with additional U.S. interest rate products, including Agency MBS and Agency/GSE securities.
  • Experience working with ATSs (Alternative Trading Systems) and other electronic trading platforms.
  • Genuine interest in financial markets, intellectual curiosity and a desire to continuously build expertise in fixed income products and trading.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Copilot, AI-assisted development tools, and workflow automation.

In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
