    About the Team:

    Our Real Estate team takes on the task of finding and managing over 1,600 stores, DCs, and offices. Their scope is pretty big, as we are a multi-national retailer with over 1,600 leased stores, offices, and distribution centers in the US, Canada, Puerto Rico, and Hong Kong.  The team also supports new store growth through market analysis and research with the industry’s best data resources and analytical tools.  In addition to supporting the stores, we work directly with the Real Estate Legal, Facilities, New Store Construction, and Finance teams.

In a standard work week, associates may work up to one remote “flex day” (with leader approval).     About the Job:

    The Fixtures and Equipment Project Manager manages the development and implementation of fixtures and equipment for existing store locations. This position manages assigned fixture-category changes directed by Store Design and internal partners, along with innovation and cost-saving projects initiated by leadership.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Manages fixture development, including review of renderings and engineering/CAD drawings, prototype evaluation and approval, and vendor feedback.
    • Establishes and manages project milestones, budgets, schedules, quality expectations, dependencies, and risks to support merchandising initiatives.
    • Manages cross-functional fixture projects involving Merchandising, Store Design, Transportation, Procurement, vendors, third-party installers, Store Operations, and leadership.
    • Coordinates project activities to support successful implementation, measurable business value, cost reduction, and compliance with approved scope, schedule, budget, and quality requirements.
    • Manages vendor relationships through scope development, concept design, prototyping, production, logistics, implementation, and project closeout.
    • Maintains primary F&E ownership of assigned projects and category releases and provides clear, timely stakeholder communication.
    • Partners with the Manager of Fixtures and Equipment to ensure fixture orders are accurate and delivered on time for large-scale resets.
    • Sources and evaluates vendors, coordinates selection, places orders, verifies product quality, and monitors delivery performance.
    • Partners with Transportation and cross-functional business partners to coordinate deliveries and update merchandising project dates when schedules change.
    • Manages and reports budgets for fixture replenishment, category releases, third-party labor, and assigned projects.
    • Monitors and manages fixture inventory levels to maintain sufficient on-hand quantities for existing-store replacement orders and new-store requirements, coordinating replenishment as needed.
    • Reviews vendor pricing and relevant industry trends to develop cost estimates and identify cost-saving opportunities.
    • Anticipates deadline changes, develops recovery plans, and communicates revised timelines and risks to vendors and business partners.
    • Coordinates fixture delivery and installation activities and partners with vendors, installers, stores, and internal teams to resolve quality, delivery, and execution issues through completion.
    • Completes project closeout, including cost reconciliation, issue resolution, vendor evaluation, and documentation of results.
    • Manages 10 or more projects simultaneously while maintaining productivity, accuracy, quality, and adherence to timelines.

    BUDGET RESPONSIBILITIES

    May be responsible for budgets of up to $10 million across merchandising, cost-saving, and innovation-driven projects. Responsibilities include forecasting, expense tracking, variance reporting, invoice reconciliation, and identification of cost savings or cost avoidance.

    • Documented cost savings and cost avoidance
    • Fixture quality, prototype approval, and production defect rates
    • On-time completion of installation and implementation activities
    • Identification, communication, and mitigation of schedule risks
    • Vendor responsiveness, quality, accuracy, cost, and delivery performance
    • Accuracy and timeliness of project reporting, closeout, and stakeholder communications

    MAJOR CHALLENGES

    Projects must be executed within predetermined timelines and approved budgets while maintaining quality and identifying cost-saving opportunities. The position periodically experiences high-demand workloads, changing requirements, and competing priorities and must remain organized, accurate, responsive, and consistent while managing multiple projects, vendors, and stakeholders.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND TRAVEL

    • Periodically builds, assembles, modifies, and evaluates prototype fixtures at the Merchandise Development Center as project needs require.
    • Must be able to lift, carry, position, and assemble items weighing up to 50 pounds or more, using appropriate assistance or lifting equipment when required.
    • Must be able to safely operate basic hand tools and to stand, bend, reach, push, and pull in prototype, warehouse, or retail-store environments.
    • Limited travel of up to 5% may be required for vendor reviews, prototype evaluations, store installations, and project implementation.

    EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

    • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university preferred but not required; project-management experience preferred.
    • 4–8 years of retail operations, fixture development, merchandising implementation, sourcing, or project-management experience.
    • Experience managing multiple projects, vendors, budgets, schedules, and cross-functional stakeholders preferred.
    • Working knowledge of SAP, Microsoft Excel, Access, SharePoint, and PowerPoint.
    • Excellent organizational, analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, and written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently in a fast-changing environment, develop creative solutions, produce measurable results, and maintain strong attention to detail.
    • Ability to read and evaluate fixture renderings, specifications, prototypes, and engineering/CAD drawings.
