Responsibilities:
The Boone County Sheriffs Office is a top tier law enforcement organization. We are the only Sheriffs Office in Missouri that has achieved two national accreditations from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) for our law enforcement operations and from the National Institute for Jail Operations (NIJO) for our jail operations.
The staff at the Sheriffs Office are dedicated to serving their community with the highest degree of professionalism and to serving the training needs of our law enforcement partners. We have been providing training to other law enforcement agencies since 2015 to help with the professional development of our law enforcement partners.
As part of its commitment to providing high quality training to other law enforcement agencies, we took over operations of the local law enforcement training academy in 2024. And in 2024 we received funding to develop a new Regional Training Center to further support the training missionfor area law enforcement. That new facility is now open!
The Sheriffs Office is committed to supporting its staff. As part of that commitment, we are opening a childcare center for our employees this fall and will include some overnight hours.

This position:
Serves an integral role in management of Boone County Sheriffs Office fleet to include budget planning, acquisition, maintenance, and disposal.
Administers various public safety software and hardware utilized by the Boone County Sheriffs Office.
Serves as the liaison for the Sheriffs Office with vendors, Boone County Information Technology, and other public safety partners.
Researches available technology solutions for the Sheriffs Office.
Supports and trains personnel on the use of public safety software and hardware.
Status:
Full-time, non-exempt, benefited
Working hours:
8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday - Friday
Location:
Columbia, Missouri
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED.
Must be 18 years of age or older.
Must not have any felony convictions or convictions for crimes involving moral turpitude.
Must not have other criminal convictions within the last two (2) years, excluding minor traffic violations.
Vision acuity correctable to 20/40 in at least one eye; and possess vision to read a computer screen and printed materials.
Must possess a valid drivers license at time of application and a valid Missouri drivers license at time of appointment.
Proficient knowledge of the English language, to include:
o grammar, punctuation, and spelling
o oral and written communication
o reading comprehension
Applicant must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
Must be able to interact with the public and possess hearing and speech abilities to communicate in person and over the telephone.
Must meet minimum qualifications set forth by the FBI and MSHP CJIS Security policy.
Preferred Skills:
Experience in the operation and management of public safety software and hardware, personal computers, and peripherals; use and maintenance of Windows Operating Systems; advanced use of MS Office; the operation and maintenance of electronic/mechanical equipment; and troubleshooting of issues specific to public safety software and hardware.
Starting Hourly Pay Rate:
$27.42 - $28.25 per hour
