Fleet Asset Management Director

Job Summary
This leadership position provides a unique chance to influence fleet strategy, drive innovation, and promote operational excellence on a global scale.

Responsibilities

  • Lead fleet-wide asset management strategy aligned with safety, regulatory, reliability, and performance objectives.
  • Partner with Technical Operations leadership to enhance maintenance practices and optimize long-term asset performance.
  • Oversee core maritime systems including PMS, inventory, procurement, fuel management, and dock planning.
  • Develop and maintain equipment criticality frameworks to support risk-based decision making.
  • Establish preventive and predictive maintenance strategies, including spares provisioning and inventory optimization.
  • Drive reliability initiatives such as root cause analysis, failure trend monitoring, and continuous improvement.
  • Standardize equipment specifications and vendor strategies to improve consistency and cost efficiency.
  • Oversee fuel management, energy efficiency, and decarbonization programs.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain teams on demand forecasting, sourcing, and inventory control.
  • Develop multi-year maintenance and CAPEX plans with cross-functional teams.
  • Support dry dock planning, major refits, and lifecycle replacement programs.
  • Drive process standardization across fleet and shore-side technical teams.
  • Support fleet decisions related to vessel acquisition, new builds, and disposition.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 7–10+ years of progressive experience in maritime technical operations, fleet management, or asset management.
  • Experience in passenger vessel operations and/or shipboard experience is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of maritime systems, maintenance methodologies, and regulatory/class requirements.
  • Experience with PMS platforms, inventory/procurement systems, fuel management tools, and dry dock planning software is preferred.
  • Background in asset lifecycle management and reliability engineering is highly desirable.
  • Exposure to fuel efficiency and decarbonization initiatives is a plus.
  • Familiarity with data analytics, AI, or machine learning applications is advantageous.
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional and geographically dispersed teams.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence senior leadership.
  • Effective project and change management capabilities.
  • Highly organized and adaptable in a dynamic environment.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
