Job Description

Fleet, Equipment & Yard Supervisor

The Grey Barn | Northwest Arkansas
Full-Time | $52,000 Base + Up to $8,000 Annual Bonus

About the Role

The Grey Barn is looking for a hands-on Fleet, Equipment & Yard Supervisor to own the readiness, organization, and maintenance tracking of our vehicles, trailers, landscaping equipment, shop, and yard, so crews show up every morning and go straight to work without wondering if the truck's ready or where the trimmer is.

Schedule

Monday to Thursday, 5:45 AM to 5:00 PM. Some Fridays required during onboarding, peak season, or major repairs and projects.

Compensation

$52,000 base salary, plus up to $8,000 per year in performance bonuses tied to fleet and equipment readiness, preventive maintenance compliance, organization, safety, and reduced downtime.

What You Will Own

  • Maintain a full inventory and maintenance schedule for company vehicles, trailers, and light/heavy equipment, including skid steers, forklifts, and trenchers
  • Track service intervals, inspections, registrations, and coordinate repairs with outside vendors
  • Own readiness of landscaping equipment, including mowers, trimmers, blowers, chainsaws, hand tools, and batteries, including basic in-house repairs
  • Conduct recurring safety inspections and pull unsafe vehicles or equipment from service immediately
  • Keep the shop labeled, organized, and stocked with common parts and supplies
  • Track and organize yard and material inventory, including plants, sod, mulch, soil, and irrigation materials
  • Support morning crew readiness and evening equipment return and storage
  • Hold crews accountable for equipment cleanliness and proper storage
  • Help maintain organized office records, including registrations, insurance, warranties, and service documentation

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in fleet, equipment, warehouse, yard, facilities, construction, or landscaping operations
  • Experience being responsible for company vehicles, equipment, tools, or physical assets
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to build tracking systems
  • Basic mechanical understanding and ability to identify safety issues
  • Experience coordinating repairs with outside vendors
  • Comfortable with spreadsheets, email, and basic business software
  • Able to work independently
  • Valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and reliable transportation
  • Able to consistently report by 5:45 AM

Strongly Preferred

  • Commercial landscaping, fleet management, or construction/field-service experience
  • Small-engine or automotive maintenance experience
  • Skid steer or forklift experience
  • Experience building preventive maintenance programs
  • GPS/fleet tracking or maintenance management software experience

Core Values and Mindset

Have Fun

This is a hands-on, people-facing operation. You will spend your week working alongside crews, coordinating with vendors, and keeping the shop and yard running. Bring energy to it.

Try New Things Fast

If an organizational system or maintenance process is not working, change the approach this week, not next quarter. Test it, keep what works, drop what does not.

Best in the World

We are not trying to run the loosest operation in Northwest Arkansas. We are trying to be the one crews can count on every morning. Study what breaks down or goes missing, and get sharper at preventing it.

Put in the Work

The unsexy part is the job: the early start, the inspection nobody asked for, the shop cleanup at the end of a long day. The system does not build itself and it does not care how you feel about Mondays.

Hold Accountability

Own the equipment and own the miss. If something breaks down that should have been caught, say so early. If a crew is not returning equipment properly, address it directly instead of quietly cleaning up after them.

Bilingual

Spanish/English bilingual is a strong plus. A significant portion of the field workforce speaks Spanish.

Who Will Do Well Here

  • Notices when things are out of place and fixes problems before being asked
  • Comfortable holding crews accountable
  • Prefers preventing breakdowns over explaining them
  • Works from a checklist without needing one
  • Treats company equipment like it's their own
