Fleet Maintenance Technician III Performs advanced level diagnostic and preventive maintenance on a wide variety of fleet vehicles and heavy equipment. Operates with a high degree of independence to resolve complex mechanical problems and train other employees. The position's essential duties are:
Must be able to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electronic systems on fleet vehicles and equipment. Diagnose and repair hydraulic systems used in automated side-loaders, compactors, lift mechanisms, and utility equipment. Repair and maintain diesel engines, transmissions, drivetrains, suspension systems, steering components, and brake systems. Installs new ignition systems, changes, or recharges batteries, and replaces transmissions and other parts. Perform preventive maintenance inspections and services on refuse trucks, utility service trucks, dump trucks, loaders, excavators, backhoes, and other heavy equipment. Responds to emergency breakdowns and field service calls. Mentors and trains Fleet Maintenance Technicians.
