Compensation:
- A Tech $40.00 - $50.00 / Hour with a $7,500 sign-on bonus
- B Tech $33.00 - $43.00 / Hour with a $7,500 sign-on bonus
- C Tech $25.00 - $35.00 / Hour with a $7,500 sign-on bonus

Responsibilities:
- Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on motorcoaches, cutaway shuttles, light-duty vehicles, electric vehicles, and other fleet equipment.
- Diagnose, repair, and replace engines, transmissions, brakes, steering, suspension, HVAC, electrical, fuel, and drivetrain components to ensure vehicles operate safely and reliably.
- Review driver defect reports, preventative maintenance schedules, and repair priorities to proactively address fleet concerns, minimize road calls, and maximize vehicle availability.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, labor hours, repair documentation, parts inventory, and fleet maintenance files.
- Utilize OEM diagnostic software, specialized tools, and repair manuals to troubleshoot vehicle systems and determine effective repair solutions.
- Perform road tests, quality inspections, and field service calls as needed to verify repairs and respond to vehicle breakdowns or emergency situations.
- Support the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of onboard vehicle technology, including telematics, Wi-Fi equipment, tablets, cameras, and other fleet systems.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following TransWest safety policies and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with Fleet leadership, fellow technicians and Operations to ensure fleet reliability, safety, and operational excellence.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Professional experience maintaining and repairing vehicles, or successful completion of a vocational automotive or heavy-duty diesel program, associate's degree in automotive technology, Heavy Duty Diesel, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Placement within the Technician career path is based on experience, technical knowledge, and demonstrated competencies:
- Technician A Tech: 5+ years of professional experience.
- Technician B Tech: 3+ years of professional experience.
- Technician C Tech: 2+ years of professional experience or completion of an accredited automotive or diesel technician program.
- Demonstrated knowledge and hands-on experience diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining electrical, brake, powertrain, steering, suspension, and HVAC systems.
- Experience working on transit buses, motorcoaches, commercial vehicles, or fleet equipment is strongly preferred.
- Proficiency using vehicle diagnostic software and OEM diagnostic tools, like Cummins INSITE, Cummins QuickServe, ALLDATA, WABCO, Allison DOC, Bendix ACom, and Ford IDS.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable motor vehicle record.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate (MEC). TransWest will cover the cost of certification for qualified candidates.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment DOT drug screen.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule to support operational needs, including occasional work outside of regularly scheduled hours.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform the physical requirements of the position.
Preferred Qualifications:
- EPA Section 609 HVAC Certification.
- Advanced automotive or heavy-duty diesel training.
- ASE certifications relevant to automotive or heavy-duty diesel repair.
- OEM certifications (Cummins, Allison, Ford, or equivalent).
- Experience working on electric vehicles.
- CDL Class A or B with Passenger endorsement.
