POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Position Title: Fleet Manager

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Fleet Manager role will be responsible for managing a fleet of drivers to ensure a flawless execution of services for customers. This includes coordinating and scheduling the pick-up and delivery of loads in a timely and most cost-effective way, as well as ensuring drivers provide excellent customer service. Responsibilities of a Fleet Manager also include holding drivers accountable for operating in a safe manner and complying with company, state and federal policies.

In addition, this role is responsible for supporting business improvement by meeting personal and departmental goals and objectives timely and effectively

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Problem Resolution - proactively identify and resolve scheduling issues, delivery delays and equipment breakdowns through communications wit h drivers, customers and operations.
  • Dispatch drivers to ensure efficient asset utilization and route planning
  • Monitoring, correcting, and improving driving behaviors and operations
  • Evaluate driver performance
  • Provide route and operations information
  • Maintain constant communication with drivers
  • Communicate effectively
    1. Communicate clearly and respectfully
    2. Understand & Communicate expectations of your driver and of yourself
    3. Establish a friendly environment
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with government rules and regulations and files paperwork in support of this compliance as needed
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
  • Driver Turnover Rate
  • On-Tim Delivery Percentage
  • Revenue Per Tractor
  • Average Miles Per Tractor
  • Fuel Efficiency (MPG) and Idle Time
Note: These are the major functions and accountabilities required of the position and are the predominant criteria by which performance will be assessed. OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES:
  • Previous trucking industry experience especially managing/dispatching drivers
  • Proficient with computers
  • Knowledge of DOT safety requirements
  • Ability to tolerate high stress situations.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and multi-tasking skills.
  • Ability to work in team environment.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, multi-tasking environment
  • Ability to tolerate high stress situations.
