POSITION TITLE:  FLEET MECHANIC

DEPARTMENT:                     FLEET            

LOCATION:                            PLANO, IL                            

REPORTS TO:                       FLEET MANAGER/ SUPERVISORS

TRAVEL REQUIRED?           NO      

POSITIONS SUPERVISED:  NONE

POSITION SUMMARY:  This position performs major and minor repairs/service work to Menards Fleet, consisting of forklifts, cars/trucks, trailers, etc.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Inspect fleet equipment to locate and determine the extent of necessary repair
  • Repair, replace, and adjust necessary units and related parts
  • Perform maintenance work to DOT standards for over the road equipment
  • Perform general overhaul and repair work on gasoline, diesel, propane and battery powered engines/equipment
  • General repair, welding, and fabrication of fleet units
  • Perform preventative maintenance work on vehicles including lubrication, oil changes, and annual inspections
  • Clean and maintain the work area and equipment
  • Maintain records on all maintenance and repair work performed

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

·         Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills

·         Ability to locate and resolve problems in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems

·         Knowledge of standard practices, equipment, and tools of the fleet equipment trade

·         Knowledge of forklift and automobile mechanical and electrical systems

·         Ability to lift 75+lbs

·         Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions

·         Basic welding and maintenance experience
