Fleet Mechanic III

Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of experience in automotive repair within a shop equipped with modern preventive maintenance and inventory control programs.  Advanced training with a successful completion of study from an accredited technical or trade school may be substituted for the experience requirement.   

Education: High school diploma or equivalency certificate required.  Advanced training from an accredited technical or trade school is also preferred.

Licenses and Certifications: Must possess a valid New Jersey driver's license.  A valid New Jersey commercial driver’s license with a Class A or B endorsement is preferred.  An Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification is also preferred but not required.  

Physical Demands: Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without a reasonable accommodation to ensure the health and safety of oneself and others are maintained. Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of the arms, legs and the whole body such as sitting, standing, climbing (including ladders), lifting up to 50 lbs., balancing, walking, stooping, pushing, pulling, and handling heavy objects. Must qualify for and possess the ability to perform entry into confined spaces while wearing proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as, but not limited to, canister and dust masks, as well as SCBA (Self Contained Breathing Apparatus), in compliance with PVSC’s Facial Hair Grooming Policy.

Working Conditions:  Workers are employed in conditions associated with a wastewater treatment plant and sewer collection system and will be required to work indoors and outdoors.

The expected base pay range for this position is $79,643 to $99,704.  The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s relevant experience, qualifications, education, training, and formal credentials.
