Description

Position Summary

The Fleet Parts Technician is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the Fleet Department by managing parts inventory, coordinating with vendors, and ensuring mechanics have the necessary equipment and materials to maintain fleet readiness. This position plays a key role in inventory control, documentation, and maintaining an organized and efficient shop environment.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Receive, inspect, catalog, and organize incoming parts and supplies.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure appropriate stock levels.
  • Work with multiple vendors to source and procure parts, equipment, and shop supplies as needed.
  • Track parts orders and follow up on deliveries to minimize vehicle downtime.
  • Audit work orders to ensure accurate documentation and proper parts allocation.
  • Assist mechanics by locating and distributing required parts and materials.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe parts room and shop workspace.
  • Assist with inventory counts, cycle counts, and inventory reconciliation.
  • Coordinate warranty returns, core returns, and defective parts processing when applicable.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies regarding inventory management and purchasing procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Fleet Management.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience in an automotive, fleet maintenance, or parts department preferred.
  • Knowledge of automotive parts, tools, and fleet maintenance practices is a plus.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Basic computer skills and experience with inventory management systems preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license required.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to lift and move parts and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and inventory software is preferred.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with vendors and fleet personnel.

 

Compensation

  • Employment Type: Full-Time
  • Pay: $24.00–$29.00 per hour, based on experience.
