Picture your week starting on a Tuesday morning in a clean, well-organized shop. You walk the line of trucks and specialty units, open your tablet, and review today’s maintenance queue. Your mission: keep every vehicle safe, reliable, and ready to roll. You’ll support mechanics and Operations Supervisors, executing scheduled upkeep, documenting work in our online fleet system, and getting ahead of issues before they become downtime.

What you will do

  • Carry out routine preventative services and assist with repair work across fleet vehicles and related gear.
  • Help sustain critical subsystems—water pumps, vacuum hoses, tanks, PTOs, and heating assemblies—so each unit performs as designed.
  • Conduct basic condition checks on fluids, belts, hoses, tires, lighting, fittings, and onboard safety items.
  • Enter inspections, service actions, and repair details into our digital fleet management platform for transparent, accurate records.
  • Coordinate with mechanics, vendors, and suppliers to source parts and arrange repairs efficiently.
  • Keep DOT, CVIP, and internal compliance documentation current and organized.
  • Support roadside response and repair coordination when a unit goes down unexpectedly.
  • Own shop and yard organization—clean, orderly work areas keep everyone safer and faster.
  • Work by the book on safety procedures, including fall protection, forklift and skid steer operation, and lockout/tagout.

Skills and traits that set you up for success

  • Hands-on exposure to fleet maintenance is a plus, especially with vacuum trucks, heavy equipment, and hydraulic/mechanical systems.
  • Comfort with PM programs, inventory practices, and safety standards.
  • Meticulous organization and sharp attention to detail.
  • Able to drive company vehicles and handle parts and components; equipment operation experience welcomed.
  • Confident using technology-based tools to manage work.
  • Clear communicator and collaborative teammate.
  • Relentless about safety—follow policies, wear PPE, and call out hazards before they cause harm.

Language capabilities

Read and interpret maintenance checklists, equipment manuals, technical procedures, and applicable regulations. Communicate clearly in person, by phone, text, and email, and document maintenance activities and equipment conditions accurately.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license; Class 3 or CDL with tanker endorsement preferred but not required.
  • Meets company driver safety standards and can pass a motor vehicle record (MVR) check.
  • Must pass a criminal background check.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.

Physical demands

Expect frequent walking, standing, bending, kneeling, twisting, and lifting up to 80 pounds throughout the day, including overhead lifting. Work may occur in varied weather and typical shop/garage conditions with noise, fumes, dust, grease, and oil, and around moving vehicles and heavy equipment.

Schedule and hours

This is a full-time role with a minimum of 40 hours per week. The standard schedule runs Tuesday through Saturday within a Sunday–Saturday pay period. Evening work, schedule adjustments, and on-call response may be required. Regular, dependable attendance is essential. Overtime requires prior weekly approval from your supervisor.

Proficiencies

  • Heavy Equipment Repair
  • Mechanical Troubleshooting Skills
  • Diesel and Heavy Equipment Systems
  • DOT and Equipment Inspection Compliance
