The Fleet Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and leading their designated fleet assets & drivers to achieve elevated levels of productivity, safety, service, and driver retention. The fleet supervisor must work effectively with internal stakeholders such as sales, procurement, safety, and driver services to ensure the delivery of wood products while upholding the highest quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise/oversee drivers, equipment, and shipment of wood products at designated locations
Generate, monitor, and share reports on team performance, productivity, and profitability.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure coordination and alignment between logistics, sales, procurement, operations, and other relevant departments.
Provide effective leadership while building and leading a high-performing team. Mentor, motivate, and develop employees while fostering a positive and inclusive work culture.
Responsible for collaborating with Driver Services to recruit, onboard, train, place, and pay drivers.
Monitor drivers to ensure optimal performance and compliance with all local, state, and federal (DOT) laws and regulations.
Work closely with other managers and staff on all safety-related issues.
Responsible for coaching of drivers on safety events, observations, and complaints. Will also assist with progressive discipline as required.
Ensure compliance with regulations, managing risks, and implementing safety standards in NSE’s flatbed division.
Maintain a focus in continuous improvement of New South Express’ business model
Education & Experience
Post-Secondary degree, preferably with a focus in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience in a related field
1-2 years’ experience in working with commercial motor vehicles & drivers, management experience preferred.
Skills and Abilities
Strong computer skills and solid background working with modern office software and reporting tools.
Strong leadership skills with ability to build, lead and retain a successful team.
Well organized, with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
Ability to prioritize and handle multiple time-sensitive tasks successfully.
