ISP Fleet Installation Technician

The Idaho State Police has an opening for a Fleet Installation Technician to operate and maintain fleet and specialized vehicles and perform related work. This includes the installation of emergency vehicle lights, radios, mobile data computers, and other aftermarket emergency vehicle equipment in the Idaho State Police patrol vehicles as seen below. In this position, you will get the exciting opportunity to work with Troopers across the state of Idaho in support of the mission of the Idaho State Police.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:

  • Installation of emergency vehicle lights, radios, mobile data computers, and other aftermarket emergency vehicle equipment in coordination with Public Safety Communications
  • Assist with fleet vehicle repair estimates after damage and/or crashes
  • Coordinate and/or perform vehicle manufacturer repairs (warranty issues), recall, and maintenance updates
  • Assist in the surplus equipment pricing and disposal process
  • Assist with annual physical inspection and inventory of vehicles and equipment
  • Inspect vehicles for damage or mechanical problems; maintains file on all monthly vehicle inspection reports; routinely check preventive maintenance service schedules, state inspections for Patrol, Investigations and pool vehicles
  • Perform other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Possession of a valid Idaho Driver's License

Good knowledge of:

  • Idaho traffic safety laws
  • Safe driving practices
  • Vehicle service and preventive maintenance requirements

Experience:

  • Safely operating vehicles
  • Detecting malfunctions in vehicle mechanics and electrical system
  • Performing minor mechanical and electrical repair work
