Description
The City of Fishers is hiring a Fleet Technician II / Auto Mechanic II. This role performs skilled maintenance and repairs of City vehicles, equipment, and trailers. Daily duties require a degree of technical knowledge as well as the ability to exercise independent judgment on determining the method of repair. Responsibilities involve performing preventative maintenance, diagnosing, and repairing issues along with maintaining a high level of safety.
The City of Fishers Fleet Management is a full-service repair facility, that has been recognized as one of the 100 Best Fleets in America by Government Fleet Magazine. Our Team maintains a mix fleet of over 1,300 assets, that includes economy cars to class 8 dump trucks, Police vehicles to Fire Engines as well as line trimmers to wheel loaders. Examples of Duties
Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on City vehicles, equipment, and trailers.
Perform troubleshooting and diagnostic procedures.
Perform general repair of various types of vehicles and equipment.
Perform welding and metal fabrication.
Perform road service and field repairs, as necessary.
Work in a team environment and assist other team members as needed in the completion of assignments.
Prepare new vehicles for service and decommissions vehicles as they are removed from service.
Maintain accurate maintenance and service records in City software.
Maintain cleanliness of work area and tools.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent;
Valid commercial driver’s license or ability to obtain CDL within one year of employment with city provided training;
Ability to be insured to drive city vehicles;
5 years of industry work experience with 3 or more approved industry certifications or 8 years of industry work experience;
Section 609 EPA standard air conditioning service, repair and freon recovery certification or ability to obtain within one year of employment;
Must have own hand tools;
Must have ability to work outside of normal business hours when necessary for on-call assignments, emergencies, weather related events and other city related needs;
Must start processes to earn ASE Certification with in one year.

Master ASE Technician $1,000 Annually
Master Industry Approved Technician $1,000 Annually
ASE Certification $250 each test
ASE Re-Certification $100 each test
Industry Approved Certification $250 each test
Industry Approved Re-Certification $100 each test
