Coast Electric is currently seeking a motivated and dependable individual to join our Fleet Maintenance team as a Fleet Technician. This position is responsible for assisting with the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of Coast Electric and CoastConnect's vehicles and equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. The selected candidate will participate in Coast Electric's Fleet Technician Training Program, a structured program designed to develop the technical knowledge, practical skills, and competencies necessary to advance through the Fleet Technician classifications towards becoming a Master Fleet Technician.The Fleet Technician will work under the direction of the Fleet and Facilities Director and receive hands on training from experienced technicians while developing the ability to independently perform maintenance and repair activities.At Coast Electric, we exist to power and connect lives. Our employees work together to find solutions, care for the people we serve, and make a positive difference in our communities.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:Perform routine preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment, including oil changes, lubrication, battery inspections, and tire maintenance.Assist with diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, brake, steering, suspension, andInspect, maintain, and repair fleet vehicles and specialized equipment, including bucket trucks, digger derricks, tractors, trailers, and other fleet equipment.Utilize diagnostic tools, technical manuals, and computerized equipment to identify and troubleshoot vehicle and equipment malfunctions.Assist with field service repairs, roadside assistance, and emergency maintenance activities.Maintain accurate work orders, maintenance records, diagnostic reports, and daily timesheets.Follow established safety procedures, equipment operating instructions, and applicable regulatory requirements.Maintain a clear, organized, and safe working environment, including the proper storage and disposal of hazardous materials.Participate in required technical training, safety meetings, and competency evaluations.JOB REQUIREMENTS:High school diploma or GED equivalent required. High school diploma preferred.Must have a minimum of one year experience working in an automotive setting as a technician.Must possess a valid state issued driver's license.Ability to obtain a valid Mississippi Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six months of hire.Ability and willingness to participate in and successfully complete the Fleet Technician Training Program.Ability to learn and demonstrate the technical competencies required for vehicles and equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, interpret technical information, and comply with established safety procedures.Ability to work effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and other employees.Ability to be on call after regular working hours and work overtime as required.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:This position requires the ability to lift, push, pull, or carry objects weighing up to 75 pounds; climb ladders and climb into and operate aerial equipment; and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, and precise movements. The ability to safely operate tools, machinery, and equipment used in vehicle maintenance and repair. The ability to perform work requires near and distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to recognize equipment conditions and potential safety hazards.
