Fleet Trailer Maintenance Mechanic (Chassis & Body)

Your impact

• Perform detailed inspections and diagnostics on trailers and related equipment to pinpoint issues and faulty components.
• Complete repair orders to manufacturer specifications and recognized industry standards.
• Deliver routine preventive maintenance to keep equipment performance-ready.
• Carry out trailer body and undercarriage work, including air bag replacement, cross-members, dolly legs, and tandem systems.
• Use checklists to plan, document, and verify each repair step.
• Keep tools and work areas clean, organized, and safe.
• Adhere to health and safety procedures and best practices.
• Work collaboratively with teammates while maintaining the ability to operate independently.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What you bring

• Experience: 1–2 years in mechanical roles or equivalent hands-on experience.
• ASE certifications preferred but not mandatory.
• Mechanical aptitude with basic math proficiency.
• English reading and writing skills for clear documentation and communication.
• Personal tool set and safety equipment (safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, hearing protection).

Pre-employment requirement

Must pass pre-employment knowledge/skill test, background check (10-year), and drug/medical physical exam.

Physical & environmental conditions

• Heavy Work: Lift/carry up to 100 lbs occasionally, 50 lbs frequently, and 20 lbs constantly.
• Frequent movements: walking, standing, climbing, stooping, crouching, balancing, kneeling, crawling.
• Hands-on demands: frequent grasping, typing, tool operation.
• Sensory: talking, hearing, & vision for precise inspection and safe equipment use.

Shop-centered role with indoor/outdoor work. Expect exposure to:

• Temperature fluctuations in non-climate-controlled spaces
• Dirt, dust, soot, fumes, and other particulates
• Moving mechanical parts and electrical components
• Chemicals and limited-ventilation areas
• High places, confined spaces, and loud noise
• Consistent PPE usage and strict safety compliance are required.
