The Flex Programs Manager leads SBTT’s flex and community-facing programming, including our Transitional Programs, Community Art Nights, and new pilot initiatives. This role also supports core studio programs, exhibitions, markets, and studio accessibility. This role works closely with the Program Director, Studio Programs Manager, and Marketing Manager to design, staff, and evaluate programs that serve adults and young adults on the autism spectrum, and to represent SBTT’s work through exhibitions and community events.

Flex Programming currently includes:
\n
- \n
- Transitional Programs
- \n
- Design, implement, and evaluate Transitional Program
- \n
- Create and maintain applications, communications, and calendars for Transitional Programs
- \n
- Oversee budget and order supplies for Transitional Programs
- \n
- Collaborate with Marketing Manager on announcements and outreach for Transitional Programs
- \n
- Recruit, manage, and coordinate payment for teaching artists
- \n
- New Pilot Initiatives
- \n
- Launch Creators Club and Open Studio pilot initiatives in collaboration with the Program Director:
- \n
- Creators Club–a semester-based offering providing supported studio time and community building for autistic artists, culminating in an end-of-term outcome or project
- \n
- Open Studio Hours–independent studio time for autistic artists who are self-directed and need to engage with the studio outside of regular scheduling.
- \n
- Create and maintain applications, communications, and calendars for these programs in collaboration with the Program Director
- \n
- Recruit, manage, and coordinate payment for teaching artists
- \n
\n
\n
Community Programs currently includes:
\n
- \n
- Community Art Nights + Workshops
- \n
- Coordinate staffing and calendar for Community Art Nights
- \n
- Collaborate with Marketing Manager on promotion of Community Art Nights
- \n
- Coordinate occasional workshops in collaboration with fellow program staff
- \n
\n
Core Program Support currently includes:
\n
- \n
- Adult Program
- \n
- Assist in adult sessions as needed in coordination with the Studio Programs Manager and Program Director
- \n
- Collaborate with the Studio Programs Manager and Program Director on curatorial and production needs for markets, exhibitions, and special projects
- \n
- Artist Residency Program
- \n
- Assist with the Artist Residency Program as needed in collaboration with the Studio Programs Manager
- \n
\n
\n
Accessibility Coordinator duties include:
\n
\n
- \n
- Assist in maintaining a safe, accepting, and accessible studio environment for artists, staff, volunteers, and visitors
- \n
- Assist in research and maintenance of accessibility best practices across studio departments, including maintenance of first aid supplies and safety equipment
- \n
- Oversee maintenance of 50% KultureCity compliance and staff CPR certifications
- \n
- Oversee visual guides, social stories, and other visual documents in partnership with the Marketing Manager
- \n
\n
Exhibitions and Market coordination duties include:
\n
- \n
- Research and conduct outreach for new exhibition opportunities in partnership with the Program Director and Studio Programs Manager
- \n
- Coordinate with the Program Director on production needs and calendar for existing and new exhibition and market opportunities
- \n
- Coordinate and oversee installation/deinstallation of exhibitions
- \n
- Update rotating exhibitions with partner sites such as Red Bike Coffee
- \n
- Collaborate with the Executive Director and Program Director on high-level curatorial and exhibition goals and strategies
- \n
- Manage coordination and communication with market organizers
- \n
- Track metrics related to engagement, sales, fundraising, etc. at markets
- \n
- Staff and coordinate staffing for markets and similar events
- \n
\n
Requirements
\n
- \n
- Experience working in the arts, arts education, community arts, and/or nonprofit sector
- \n
- Experience in a working studio environment, visual arts, art-making processes, or arts programming.
- \n
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- \n
- Ability to be adaptable and flexible in a dynamic studio environment
- \n
- Comfortable working collaboratively with a diverse group of adult and young adult artists
- \n
- Working knowledge of Google Suite
- \n
- A strong commitment to fostering a supportive, positive, and inclusive environment for individuals of all abilities and backgrounds.
- \n
\n
\n
Preferred but not required
\n
- \n
- Experience working with adults and young adults on the autism spectrum
- \n
- Experience with exhibition or market coordination and installation
- \n
\n
Work Environment
\n
- \n
- Full-time, on-site position at our Irondale studio.
- \n
- Hands-on work in a busy, collaborative, art-making environment.
- \n
- 32 hour average work week.
- \n
- Some evening/weekend hours required for events or special programs.
- \n
\n
\n
Compensation & Benefits
\n
- \n
- Salary $33,000-36,000, depending on experience
- \n
