Flexible Police Officer

The Orem Police Department is currently hiring for recruit and entry-level Police Officers. This is intended to be a part-time, non-benefited position while the recruit is attending police certification training, and transitioning to a full-time, benefited position upon successful completion of the police academy and LEO certification. Those who are currently enrolled in POST to gain either the SFO or LEO certification are encouraged to apply; those who have completed the academy and are currently LEO certified/certifiable are strongly encouraged to apply. - Must at least be enrolled in the SFO program of POST. This position is open to both those in the SFO or LEO block of the academy, and those already SFO/LEO certified/certifiable.

• High School graduation or equivalent.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Utah driver license. The current pay range for recruit Police Officers starts at $20.40 per hour while in the academy. Once LEO certified and transitioned to a full-time position, the starting salary for certified Police Officers starts at $66,776.01 annually ($32.10 hourly) with a hybrid step program that is designed to help officers move up the pay range quickly by combining a career ladder system to allow for pay raises based on additional certifications earned, and a step program which provides pay raises based on years of service.
