Description
Are you an experienced Flexo Press Operaotr and looking for a good change? Come join a great team and work in a convenient location in Cheektowaga, NY! We have 1 opening on our team for experienced Press Operators on our 12-hour shift. This is a Temp to Direct hire role.
Hours are: 6PM to 6AM, 2 days on, 2 days off.

Rate: $25 / hour to start. Once training is signed off on the press, rate will increase even if the successful candidate is still a Temp.

Job Responsibilities:
Operate printing presses making sure that proper production, safety, quality, and housekeeping procedures are followed by communicating with the Supervisor and other Press Department personnel, making necessary calculations, detecting variances, inspecting own work, reading, interpreting, following instructions, measuring product, and solving production problems.
Set up operation by verifying schedule and all aspects of job order including: inks, type of film, size of film and type of Anilox. Prepare the press per the job standard, installing proper Anilox and print sleeves. Clean out pumps for proper color and get ink flowing, check viscosity, adjust controls. Have the Supervisor check set up.
Troubleshoot minor machine repair by diagnosing problems, reading manuals/job instructions, researching problems/solutions, and solving problems. Involve others, such as Maintenance Department personnel, to resolve problems.
Compile data and complete necessary checks accurately on control sheets and any other paperwork such as QA checks and deck sheets.
Perform routine clean up in press area when the job is complete.
Maintain work area per food safety requirements.
Follow safety procedures by inspecting entire press area for compliance.
Perform special projects as assigned to assist in the success of ProAmpac- Buffalo Division's objectives, for example assisting other Press Operators, Assistant Press Operators, Press Helpers, and training other Press personnel as necessary.
Job Requirements:
High school or equivalent education.
Minimum eighteen months to two years of experience in press department as a press helper and assistant press operator.
Excellent communication, organizational and multi-tasking skills to communicate and work effectively with all department personnel.
Ability to read and interpret safety rules and procedure manuals, write reports and correspondence, and speak effectively before groups of customers or fellow workers.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Abilty to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists and to interpret a variety of instructions given in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
Extensive knowledge of flexographic packaging is required, especially in set up, troubleshooting, and running production.
