Job Description

SUMMARY

Quality and service oriented manufacturer of flexible packaging with production and distribution facilities located in Sparta, Michigan is growing and looking for pressmen for 2nd shift. The company has shown strong growth since its inception in 1975. They are a full service manufacturer of plastic flexible packaging serving multiple end-user markets. Production capabilities include extrusion, co-extrusion, printing, graphics separation and proofing, converting and lamination. Pressmen will be responsible for setting up and operating flexographic printing press to print designs or lettering on rolls of flexible plastic film.

Location: Sparta, MI

Position Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire

Pay: $22-$30/Hour based on skills and experience

Shift: 2nd shift

RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

• Responsible for running the press at the targeted production rate while maintaining quality.
• 
  
• Responsible for running re-winder and pulling rolls off of the press.
• 
  
• Responsible for handling of plant equipment and supplies by himself, the schedule B Pressman and others on the press.
• 
  
• Responsible to check the print quality against all specifications on every roll. Adjusts color in the press if needed.
• 
  
• Assists in training press apprentices following all established training procedures.
• 
  
• Work as a team with B Pressman within the restrictions and capabilities.
• 
  
• Responsible for achieving targeted set up times and keeping roll changes to a minimum.
• 
  
• Responsible for changeovers on press while following set up procedures.
• 
  
• Monitor entire web through scanner every 5 minutes.
• 
  
• Responsible for first sign in on set-ups.
• 
  
• Responsible for maintaining, labeling and handling of hazardous waste.
• 
  
• All finished orders will be checked against Extrusion paperwork to ensure all film is accounted for, printed and labeled correctly for example ahead of slitter, converting or outside sales.
• 
  
• Communicate with 2nd Pressman and inspect all items for next set-up, ie. cylinders geared, film and ink behind machine.
• 
  
• Responsible for checking in all paperwork for next set up, ie. spec, layout and paper proof.

QUALIFICATIONS

• 
  
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 
  
• 2 years of printing press experience. Flexographic wide web or narrow web, off-set, or lithograpic.
