Role Overview

Administrative Assistant - Helicopter Flight Coordinator 2026 Exploration Program

General Accountability:

The Administrative Assistant - Helicopter Flight Coordinator is responsible for both providing administrative support to the project and flight tracking for the 2026 exploration drilling program. This support comprises a range of administrative and safety focused duties including but not limited to documentation and flight tracking of exploration helicopters which support the field and drilling programs, keeping track of personnel locations in the field, monitoring radio for any emergencies that occur, informing Geologists when support is needed in the field and when core is bought to site, file management, and supporting Project Management as directed a supervisor. Proper execution of the position significantly reduces the workload of program management personnel and supports the efficient and safe completion of the exploration program.

Nature & Scope of Position:

The North American Exploration group supports the Red Dog Mine and Teck Alaska through the discovery and definition of additional mineral resources with the goal of extending the life of mine operations. The Administrative Assistant - Helicopter Flight Coordinator supports the program by providing efficient and conscientious administrative and flight tracking support to ensure the safe completion of the program.

The Administrative Assistant - Helicopter Flight Coordinator will routinely interact with Teck personnel responsible for the management and execution of the 2026 exploration program as well as work closely with drilling and helicopter contractor and subcontractor personnel including radio communication and monitoring. The Administrative Assistant - Helicopter Flight Coordinator will report to the exploration project manager.

The position is seasonal with flight following lasting until helicopters leave site for the winter.

Projected timeline for the season: This position will last from 8/20/2026 to 10/15/2026.

Schedule/rotation: 2 weeks on, 1 week off working hours being either day or night shift.

Key Responsibilities

• Be a Courageous Safety Leader, adhere to and sponsor health, safety, community and environment policies, procedures, and systems, including emergency response plans and hazard and risk assessments
• Fully embrace Teck's core values
• Attend and actively participate in daily safety meetings and pre-shift helicopter meetings
• Record helicopter flight information such as personal and sling loads in a form that is relayed by the pilot on a given flight
• Engage in regular, clear radio communication with helicopter pilots and field crews as a key part of day-to-day responsibility
• Document the location and name of all individuals heading to the field and ensure they are equipped with proper field safety gear prior to leaving
• Familiar with the project Emergency Response Plan (ERP) in relation to field and helicopter activities and be able to assist with radio communications, notifications and documentation in the event of an emergency
• Communicate needs of field crews to appropriate individuals in the office and core sheds
• Assist project management and administrative assistants with file management such as scanning documents, data entry and any other administrative tasks
• Help maintain good housekeeping in the office areas
• Carry out workplace inspections, identify hazards and hazard mitigation solutions, and report unsafe conditions and behaviors

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Strong and effective communication skills
• Individuals must be self-motivated, driven and able to work in a fast-paced environment
• Comfortable using handheld radios
• Familiarity with file management, spreadsheet (MS Excel), and word processing (MS Word) skills sufficient to efficiently store and retrieve files, prepare, and maintain personnel schedules, and prepare daily reports with little or no supervision
• Work on day and night shift as required
• Work effectively with a large, diverse team, and maintain a safe and respectful workplace
• Familiarity with an exploration drilling program is a strong asset
• No previous helicopter related work experience is required
