Contract Flight Test Engineer — ECS & Thermal Systems

Support experimental aircraft flight-test activities for Environmental Control System (ECS) and thermal-management systems at the Newton, Kansas test site. This is a full-time, six-month contract role requiring on-site support in Newton, Kansas, with potential travel to Frisco, Texas.

The engineer will develop working knowledge of an existing aircraft system; create, maintain, and review IADS real-time monitoring screens; and support flight operations from the flight-test console. Responsibilities include monitoring liquid-cooling loops, fan/air-cooling performance, temperature instrumentation, and identified system risk areas. The engineer will become familiar with aircraft and equipment-bay layouts and work with design engineering to assess and monitor thermal and system risks during test.

The role includes real-time flight-test communication with the Test Conductor/Test Director and other flight-test engineers, flight-test data processing and review, technical documentation, and preparation of flight-test reports. Limited support to test planning may be required.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline and 5+ years of engineering experience
• Experience working with engineering test data, including processing, analysis, review, and report generation
• Proficiency with one or more data-analysis tools such as MATLAB, Python, or Excel
• Ability to interpret engineering schematics, instrumentation data, and test procedures
• Strong technical communication and ability to operate effectively in an on-site test environment
• Eligible to work on ITAR/export-controlled programs
• Ability to work full time on site in Newton, KS, with potential travel to Frisco, TX

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in formal aerospace flight test environments
• Experience with IADS or similar real-time test-data monitoring/display tools
• Familiarity with aircraft environmental-control systems, liquid cooling, air cooling/fan systems, or thermal-management systems
• Control room radio communications experience
• Experience with temperature, pressure, flow, or related test instrumentation
