Role Overview

Our Aerospace client is seeking an experienced Flight Test Engineer to support the planning, execution, and analysis of ground and flight test activities for advanced aircraft mission systems and avionics. This role is highly hands-on and critical to ensuring system performance, integration, and compliance within a regulated aerospace or defense environment.
You will play a key role across the full test lifecycle—from developing test strategies and procedures to executing flight tests and resolving complex system anomalies. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in RF and avionics systems, thrives in collaborative, cross-functional environments, and is comfortable operating in fast-paced, mission-critical programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain flight test plans, procedures, and reports in alignment with program and customer requirements
  • Support program-level test strategies, including schedule development, risk identification, and resource planning
  • Execute developmental, qualification, and flight test activities for aircraft avionics and mission systems
  • Operate and troubleshoot RF and electronic test equipment, including spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, multimeters, data acquisition systems, and sensors (transducers, accelerometers)
  • Support aircraft system integration, subsystem checkout, and test anomaly investigation and resolution
  • Participate in Test Readiness Reviews (TRR), safety reviews, and post-test data analysis
  • Partner cross-functionally with systems engineering, avionics, software, and program management teams
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field
  • 6+ years of experience in aerospace or defense test engineering
  • Active TS Security Clearance with SCI eligibility
  • FAA Class III medical certificate and ability to complete altitude chamber training
  • Hands-on experience with RF and electronic test equipment (spectrum/network analyzers, multimeters, DAQ systems, sensors)
  • Strong understanding of aircraft avionics systems, architectures, and integration
  • Ability to read schematics, interpret technical manuals, and troubleshoot complex systems
  • Experience developing and executing ground and flight test plans
  • Strong background in requirements management (traceability, verification, validation)
  • Excellent technical documentation and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting DoD programs, ISR platforms, or missionized aircraft
  • Familiarity with aerospace and defense standards (DO-160, MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461)
  • Experience with FAA and/or DoD certification processes
  • Knowledge of requirements management tools (e.g., DOORS, Jama)
  • Prior experience in a lead test engineer or integration IPT role
  • Familiarity with quality assurance processes and non-conformance resolution
  • Experience with both manual and automated testing methodologies
Benefits of the Flight Test Engineer III:
  • 10 Days PTO
  • Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance
  • Matching 401k
