A Touch of Love Home Care is seeking a dependable and highly experienced Floater Caregiver/Aide to provide coverage in Columbus, GA, Harris County, Russell County, AL and surrounding areas. The ideal candidate must have open or highly flexible availability, reliable transportation, and the ability to accept assignments in different client homes, including occasional short-notice coverage.

Pay is $75 per four-hour shift, equivalent to $18.75 per hour. Additional hours are paid at $18.75 per hour. Hours are based on available client assignments and are not guaranteed.

Responsibilities include personal care, mobility assistance, meal preparation, light housekeeping, companionship, medication reminders, and accurate documentation. Applicants should have extensive caregiving experience and be comfortable assisting clients with dementia, limited mobility, incontinence, and other personal care needs.

Position Summary
A Touch of Love Home Care is seeking a dependable, compassionate, and highly experienced Floater Caregiver/Aide to provide coverage throughout Columbus, Georgia, and surrounding areas, including Harris County, Georgia, and Russell County, Alabama, but not limited to these locations.
The ideal candidate must have open or highly flexible availability, reliable transportation, and the ability to accept assignments in different client homes. This position is best suited for an experienced caregiver who can quickly adapt to new environments, follow individualized care plans, and confidently provide care with limited supervision.
The Floater Aide will assist with caregiver call-outs, vacations, new client start-of-care assignments, respite requests, temporary staffing needs, and other scheduling gaps.
Compensation
The Floater Aide will receive:

  • $75 guaranteed per four-hour shift
  • The rate is equivalent to $18.75 per hour
  • Additional hours beyond the initial four-hour shift will be paid at $18.75 per hour
  • Pay may vary for certain assignments based on the client’s level of care, payer source, location, or additional responsibilities

The average assignment is approximately four hours. Available hours and assignments will depend on client schedules, staffing needs, location, and the employee’s availability.
Essential Responsibilities

  • Provide personal care assistance, including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and oral hygiene.
  • Assist clients with ambulation, transfers, positioning, and mobility.
  • Provide medication reminders within the caregiver’s permitted scope of practice.
  • Prepare meals and assist with feeding when needed.
  • Perform light housekeeping related to the client’s care and immediate living area.
  • Provide companionship, supervision, and emotional support.
  • Assist clients with errands and appointments when included in the care plan.
  • Follow each client’s individualized plan of care and agency policies.
  • Accurately document services provided and complete required shift notes.
  • Report changes in the client’s condition, safety concerns, incidents, or family concerns promptly.
  • Maintain professional communication with clients, families, caregivers, and the administrative team.
  • Accept assignments in multiple service areas and adapt to different client needs and home environments.
  • Provide coverage for call-outs, urgent staffing needs, vacations, and temporary schedule gaps.

Availability Requirements
Applicants must have:

  • Open or highly flexible availability.
  • Availability for weekday, evening, weekend, and occasional holiday assignments.
  • The ability to accept some assignments on short notice.
  • Willingness to travel throughout Columbus and surrounding counties.
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality.
  • The ability to work varying shift lengths based on client needs.

Open availability does not guarantee a specific number of weekly hours. Hours will depend on available client assignments, staffing needs, and the employee’s ability to accept offered shifts.
Qualifications

  • At least three years of professional caregiving, home care, assisted living, nursing facility, personal care, or related experience preferred.
  • Extensive hands-on experience caring for older adults and individuals with disabilities.
  • Experience working with clients who have dementia, limited mobility, incontinence, fall risks, or extensive personal care needs is strongly preferred.
  • CNA certification is preferred but may not be required for applicants with substantial and verifiable caregiving experience.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
  • Ability to pass all required background checks and pre-employment screening.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and current automobile insurance.
  • Ability to safely assist with transfers, mobility, and personal care tasks.
  • Professional appearance, positive attitude, and strong communication skills.
  • Ability to follow written instructions, individualized care plans, and agency procedures.
  • Must have a dependable phone and be able to use the agency’s scheduling and documentation systems.
