Floor Manager, Hank's Oyster Bar Dupont Circle

THE ROLE
As a leader of the front of house operations, the Floor Manager works with the property team to
communicate, drive, and measure productivity and effectiveness in achieving the overarching financial,employee, and guest satisfaction goals of Hank’s Oyster Bar, Dupont Circle, while adhering to all Jamie Leeds Restaurant Group guidelines and policies

Reports to: General Manager

Specifically, the Floor Manager is directly responsible for:

  • Responsible for the training of all hosts, bussers and runners
    • Participates in interview process for all host, busser and runner positions
    • Ensures employees are trained and have access to 7Shifts
    • Accurate completion of the new hire paperwork for all hosts, bussers/runners
    • Directly responsible for training of all hosts, and bussers/runners
    • Participates in the annual reviews of all hosts, bussers/runners
    • Ensures all hosts, bussers and runners adhere to JLRG policies and guidelines
    • Ensures consistency with Coyle report standards
  • Monitors, manages, and tracks sales, costs and purchases
    • Participates in weekly and monthly P&L meetings, creating action plans to drive sales, control costs, or rectify any inaccuracies/issues
    • Responsible for completion of weekly schedules for hosts, bussers and runners
    • Ensures tip spreadsheet is complete and balanced nightly
    • Places and submits into Margin Edge all orders for office, FOH supplies, merchandise
  • Responsible for ordering, execution, & maintenance of Core Beverage Program
    • Communicate with Corporate Beverage Director regarding product availability, sales, and guest feedback
    • Ensure bar steps of service are in place and being executed properly
    • Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of the bar par levels meets standards and volume
    • Oversee ordering and monthly inventory of all liquor, beer, wine, soft drinks, juice, coffee, and N/A beverages
    • Oversee monthly maintenance/cleaning of bar equipment and tap system
    • Communicates every and all menu edits/updates to Marketing team
  • Responsible for and Manages the Host Stand
    • Serves as property subject matter expert for Resy: creating floor plans, booking windows, table capacity, turn times, and waitlist policies
    • Manages reservation bookings and communicates guest count, VIP’s, noted allergens, special requests to leadership team and staff
    • Ensures print menus are correct and up to date
    • Ensures host team is aware of server sections, specials, current oyster selection, bar staff on duty, local events impacting business (Anthem show), and any large party or private events
  • Monitor and float on various shifts throughout the work week to evaluate food and beverage quality, service, and performance of individual staff members
  • Ensures flawless execution of private events in conjunction with BOH team
  • Communicates daily to core and property team using the Avero logbook
  • Participate in weekly managers meeting and daily pre-shift meetings
  • Other assigned tasks as needed to drive employee and guest satisfaction
  • DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
    Our ideal candidate possesses a strong knowledge of food & beverage operations and profitability with afocus on training and guest communication. They are outgoing, hospitable, and truly embody our guest first
    mentality, providing goodness to people through food and beverage.
    • Minimum of 2 years of restaurant management experience in a mid-size neighborhood restaurant
    • Financially literacy with some knowledge of managing restaurant budgets and analyzing weekly and
    monthly P&L statements
    • Experience with training and on-boarding a team of 20+ individuals
    • Working knowledge of the following systems: RESY, 7Shifts, TOAST, AVERO, MarginEdge, Microsoft
