Description

At Boxcar, our product is a good time. For us, that means cold drinks, exciting games, great pizza, and even better people.

Boxcar has four locations across North Carolina. We’re not a chain. We value personality. What ties each spot together is a team that cares deeply about making each guest’s night a great one and looking out for one another.

Our vibe is eclectic, sometimes eccentric, but always welcoming. Our customers are a mix of pinball regulars, after-work crews, party-goers, competitive skee-ballers, and folks who just want a smooth drink in a place that doesn’t take itself too seriously.

Our Floor Staff are the eyes, ears, and first impression of Boxcar. You are the reason the arcade and bar stay safe, clean, and fun. We’re looking for people who can hustle, communicate, and keep their head on a swivel. Experience is a plus. Personality is a must. If that sounds like you, keep reading!

What You'll Do

  • Be the gatekeeper. You are often the first face guests see. Greet them warmly, but be diligent. Check IDs, spot fakes, and enforce North Carolina alcohol laws and age restrictions without exception.
  • Protect the vibe. Monitor the floor for safety. Communicate efficiently with the bar and security teams (via walkie) to handle intoxicated guests or aggressive behavior before it becomes a problem.
  • Arcade first aid. Help guests with minor game issues like token jams or stuck skee-balls. You’re the first line of defense before communicating larger issues to the Game Techs.
  • Patrol the floor. A clean space makes happy customers. Bus glassware and pizza trays, handle spills immediately, and keep the floor sanitized and looking sharp.
  • Closing (or opening) time. Help get the building ready to open or close it down. Sweep, mop, remove trash, set out tables, sanitize restrooms. You get it.

What We're Looking For

Our Non-Negotiables
  • No a**holes. We value kindness, honesty, integrity, and consideration. If you can’t abide by that, Boxcar isn’t the place for you.
  • One team, one dream. We don’t do silos or pass the buck. Pitch in and help out, even if it’s not your core responsibility. No job is too small.

What Else We’re Looking For
  • Conscientiousness. You take the job seriously, but you don’t take yourself too seriously.
  • Genuine hospitability. You like people, and it shows in how you work.
  • Communication. You are comfortable using a radio/earpiece and speaking up when something doesn't look right.
  • Availability. You are ready to work weekends, closing shifts, private events, and holidays as the business needs.
  • Reliability. Full stop. Show up, on time, every time.
  • Physically ready. Capable of standing/walking for 8-hour shifts and lifting up to 40 lbs.
  • Requirements. Must be 21 years of age or older. ServSafe Alcohol Certification is a plus.

What We Offer You

We’re not a corporate bar group. We’re a locally-owned business that cares about getting the details right for our people. Here’s what that means for you:
  • A culture you actually like. We aim to foster an environment where people want to work. We treat adults like adults, but don’t forget to have fun like kids.
  • We’ll have your back. The no a**holes policy applies to customers as well.
  • Growth opportunities. This doesn’t have to be the last job you have at Boxcar. We want to invest in your career. We prefer to promote from within and find ways to keep our best people around.
  • And the perks. 50% pizza discount, after-shift drinks, competitive benefits available, and a workplace that is literally an arcade.
If you made it this far, let’s hear from you! Apply now.
