Overview:
The floor Technician is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe and sanitary environment within a healthcare facility. The role supports patient care by ensuring hospital floors and surrounding areas meet strict cleanliness, infection-control and safety standards.
Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities
- Clean, sanitize, and disinfect hospital floors in patient rooms, hallways, operating areas, and common spaces
- Perform floor care duties such as sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, stripping, waxing, and buffing
- Operate and maintain floor care equipment, including auto-scrubbers, burnishers, and buffers
- Follow hospital infection control procedures and safety protocols
- Properly handle and dispose of waste, including biohazard materials, according to regulations
- Respond to spills or emergency cleaning needs promptly
- Restock cleaning supplies and report equipment or maintaining professionalism and confidentiality
Qualifications:
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, floor finishes, and proper usage
- Ability to operate floor care machinery safely and efficiently
- Attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and safety
- Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Strong time management and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in hospital or healthcare environmental services
- Familiarity with infection prevention standards
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, or holidays
