Job Summary and Qualifications

POSITION SUMMARY: Serves food and beverages to employees and visitors coming through the cafeteria line. Operates cash register and reconciles cash deposits. Stocks and cleans all areas of the cafeteria.

POPULATION SERVED: Core competencies will be assessed primarily on the following patient population(s) served: medical/surgical conditions and diseases cardiovascular, neuro, GI, renal, immunocompromised including but not limited to: CHF, CAD, CVA/TIA, metabolic disorders, oncology, COPD, malnourished, etc. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

1. Serves food and beverages to staff, guest, and physicians. 

2. Operates cash register and completes all cash deposits. 

3. Maintains all cafeteria service areas clean and organized. 

4. Disposes of all departmental waste. 

5. Serves customers with courtesy and respect. 

6. Complies with all HACCP,TDH, JCAHO and safety and sanitation guidelines. 

7. Other duties as assigned within scope and practice of licensure.

12. Ethics/Compliance: Performs all duties ethically, complying with all policies and procedures, federal, state, and local laws. 

13. Environment of care: Demonstrates accountability in role and responsibilities of the 7 Environment of Care plans.

REQUIRED LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS Current Food Handlers Card . Must obtain 30 days of hire. 

EDUCATION REQUIRED AND/OR PREFERRED: 

Preferred: High School degree or equivalent

Preferred:  Must be able to read, write, and understand English instructions, production sheets, menus etc. 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:  1-year previous experience in food and beverage services preferred 

PREFERRED EDUCATION, LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES 

· Experience in hospital environment. 

· Experience in customer service. 

· Ability to understand and follow oral and written English instructions. 

· Ability to complete assignments within prescribed time limits.

 · Ability to maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees. 

· Ability to communicate in English is preferred. 

· Ability to stoop, lift, reach, and carry heavy supplies and equipment, ability to stand for long periods of time
