Introduction
Do you have experience processing FOIA requests? Are you seeking an opportunity to make a difference in a growing Public Safety organization? The Prince William County Department of Fire and Rescue is seeking a dedicated, organized professional with a passion for Government transparency to join our team as a Department FOIA Coordinator.
In this role, you will manage incoming public records requests, coordinate with internal departments to retrieve responsive records, and ensure compliance with the Virginia Freedom of Information Act (VFOIA).
About This Role:
The FOIA Coordinator will serve as the central point of contact for public records requests across multiple offices within Prince William County Department of Fire and Rescue and will routinely collaborate with the County Attorney's FOIA Officer to respond to multi-agency requests. The successful candidate will possess exceptional attention to detail, strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to manage requests within strict statutory deadlines. Administrative experience in a legal environment is a plus. The ideal candidate will have experience drafting standard response letters and applying appropriate exemptions when warranted.
Minimum Requirements:
High School Diploma or G.E.D
3 years of clerical, data entry or records experience

Background checks, which may include but are not limited to criminal history check, credit history check, education verification check, license verification check, and/or fingerprinting may be required as posited in the job advertisement.
Fire & Rescue Requirements: Effective October 2012, mandated by the Virginia State Board of Health 12VAC5-31-540, VA EMS Regulations require a criminal background check conducted by the Central Crime Records Exchange and the National Crime Information Center via Virginia State Police; and a driving record transcript from the individual's state Department of Motor Vehicles.
Work Schedule:
Monday-Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm
Work location: 5 County Complex Ct., Suite 160, Prince William, VA 22192
This position may be eligible for teleworking consideration after a 6-month training period.
Flexibility is required as business needs may change.
Starting Salary Range:
$28.32 - $40.69
