The Folder Gluer Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining folder gluer machines to produce high-quality folding cartons according to customer specifications. This role ensures efficient production, adherence to quality standards, and safe operation of equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Set up and operate folder gluer machines (e.g., straight-line, crash lock, 4/6 corner cartons) according to job specifications
Read and interpret job tickets, CAD layouts, and production instructions
Adjust machine settings (gluing systems, feeders, folding rails, compression sections) to ensure proper carton formation and adhesion
Monitor production runs to maintain quality, consistency, and efficiency
Perform in-process quality checks, including glue application, alignment, and structural integrity
Troubleshoot mechanical and quality issues, making necessary adjustments to minimize downtime
Conduct routine maintenance, cleaning, and lubrication of equipment
Ensure proper material usage and minimize waste
Accurately complete production reports and documentation
Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean work environment (5S standards)
Coordinate with prepress, die cutting, and finishing departments as needed
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required
2+ years of experience operating folder gluer equipment in a folding carton or packaging environment preferred
Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
Ability to read job specs, blueprints, and folding/gluing diagrams
Basic math and measurement skills
Familiarity with adhesives, substrates, and carton styles
