Food And Beverage - Prep Cook

Position Summary:As a prep cook, you will prepare food for our events, including cutting, chopping, peeling, etc. and plating food for buffet presentation. You will also assist with processing deliveries and will maintain safe and sanitary work stations at all times. You will also work with the team to ensure safety and sanitation standards are met throughout the galley. This is an excellent opportunity to learn basic cooking skills and progress into other positions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist in stocking products from deliveries, maintaining proper rotation and storageFollow food production guidelines, preparing food in the allotted time frameMaintain safe and sanitary food standardsLabel, date and initial all prepared and stored food productsMonitor all work areas consistently throughout shiftClean and organize food and pan storage daily

Report any tools / equipment in need of repair or replacementAdditional job duties assigned

Requirements & Qualifications:Minimum Qualifications:

1 to 2 years kitchen prep experienceKnowledge of health sanitation codesCalifornia Food Handlers certificateAble to obtain TWIC and MMC certificationMust be able to understand and communicate with English speaking crew

Grooming:

All crew members must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance (specific standards available in the Employee Handbook).

Physical Demands:

Ability to bend, rotate and reach frequentlyAscending/descending stairs or ladders safelyAbility to maneuver through/in/around small and/or confined areas within the vesselMust be able to maintain both static and dynamic standing balance to complete various duties associated with job

Must be capable of performing emergency duties as listed in the vessel's station bill

Work Environment:

Office environment, stairs available. Work is administrative in nature.The majority of work is performed in a Marine environment in both indoor and outdoor conditions with exposure to various temperatures and weather conditions, along with a moderate to loud noise level.
