    Position Description
     
    Position Title:     Food Donations Assistant                                                                                                                           
    Reports to:         Donations Director
    Pay Range:        $20 - $22 per hour
     
    This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Compensation is commensurate with experience and aligned with the organization’s salary structure and budget.
     
    Summary of the Job:
    The Food Donations Assistant provides operational support for The Samaritan Inn's food donation program through food pickups, receiving, inventory management, and distribution. This position helps ensure donated food is collected safely, accurately recorded, properly stored, and distributed efficiently to support residents and community partners.

    Essential Functions:
    • Perform daily food donation pickups from retail partners and community donors
    • Safely load, unload, inspect, and transport donated food
    • Receive, weigh, record, and accurately enter donated food into inventory systems
    • Assist with inventory control and maintain proper FIFO product rotation
    • Stock refrigerators, freezers, pantry areas, and storage locations
    • Assist with food distribution to the kitchen, pantry, and partner agencies
    • Maintain clean, organized, food-safe work areas
    • Communicate inventory shortages and quality concerns to the Donations Director
    • Build positive relationships with donors, volunteers, and partners
    • Assist with volunteer supervision as assigned
    • Follow food safety and organizational policies
    • Perform other duties as assigned
       
    Required Education & Experience:
    • High school diploma or GED preferred
    • Warehouse, logistics, delivery, inventory, food service, or nonprofit experience preferred.
    • Strong organizational and time management skills.
    • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
    • Basic Microsoft Office skills.
    • Valid Texas Driver License with a clean driving record required.
    • CDL preferred but not required.

    Work Environment:
    • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
    • Regular work in refrigerated/freezer environments
    • Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in varying weather and environmental conditions.
    • Ability to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
