Position: Food Market Rescue Driver and Operations Associate Salary: $20/hour or $21/hour for bilingual Schedule: The anticipated schedule is Monday through Friday, approximately 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with occasional adjustments Location: In person, St. Paul WHO WE ARE For more than 129 years, Neighborhood House has partnered with families in St. Paul to ensure access to essential services, including food, housing, education, and opportunities. Today, we serve more than 30,000 individuals annually across six neighborhoods, striving for a community where everyone can thrive. ABOUT NEIGHBORHOOD HOUSE’S FOOD SUPPORT PROGRAM In our Food Support program, nearly 1,000 families access the food they need at Neighborhood House each month. In each of our two markets, we strive to provide nutritious and culturally connected food so that families can choose the food they are excited to cook and eat. Neighborhood House also offers year-round fresh produce distributions, SNAP eligibility screening and application assistance, and other food access supports. Food rescue partnerships help us increase the variety and quantity of food available while reducing food waste. POSITION SUMMARY Neighborhood House is seeking a part-time Food Rescue and Distribution Associate to retrieve donated food from community food rescue partners and transport it safely to Neighborhood House food markets. This role operates a cargo van, collects donations from partner departments and backstock areas, monitors food temperatures, loads and secures products, and helps unload and receive donations at the market. The Associate represents Neighborhood House with reliability, care, and radical hospitality while supporting safe, efficient food market operations. WORK LOCATION & SCHEDULE This is an in-person, part-time position based in St. Paul, Minnesota. The regular route begins and ends at the Wellstone Center and includes travel to food rescue partner sites and delivery to the Wellstone Center or Neighborhood House on Montreal. The anticipated schedule is Monday through Friday, approximately 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with occasional adjustments based on partner schedules, donation volume, traffic, weather, or program needs. A company-owned vehicle is used for the food rescue route. This role may require occasional evening or weekend hours to support organizational events or respond to operational needs. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT The physical demands described here represent those that an employee must meet to perform the essential functions of this position successfully. The employee regularly drives and enters and exits a cargo van; stands and walks for extended periods; bends, reaches, twists, pushes, pulls, and uses hands to handle boxes, carts, food products, vehicle controls, and other equipment. The employee must be able to repeatedly lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds and safely load and unload products from different heights. Work is performed in a cargo van, grocery store stockrooms and loading areas, food market receiving and storage areas, refrigerators or freezers, and outdoor environments. The employee may encounter changing temperatures, traffic, inclement weather, wet or slippery surfaces, moderate noise, and varied loading conditions.
