Sodexo is seeking a Food Operations Manager 1 to join our team at Yale New Haven Health – Saint Raphael Campus, a 501-bed acute care teaching hospital in New Haven, Connecticut. This is an outstanding opportunity for an energetic, hands-on leader who enjoys building strong teams, improving the patient experience, and driving operational excellence.

 

The Food Operations Manager 1 will oversee daily patient meal service operations while leading a team of approximately 25–30 union frontline associates in a bedside dining environment utilizing HealthTouch meal ordering software.

What You'll Do

  • Oversee daily patient meal service operations in a bedside dining environment.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of approximately 25–30 union frontline employees.
  • Manage employee scheduling, payroll processing, and daily staffing needs.
  • Conduct patient rounding to ensure meal satisfaction, address concerns, and provide service recovery.
  • Serve as the opening or closing manager on a rotating schedule, including some weekends.
  • Collaborate with fellow Patient Services Managers to ensure seamless operations and continuous process improvement.
  • Build strong working relationships with nursing, dietitians, and hospital leadership.
  • Monitor compliance with HACCP, Joint Commission, food safety, sanitation, and Sodexo standards.
  • Foster a culture of employee engagement, accountability, teamwork, and service excellence

  • Experienced leading, coaching, and motivating frontline teams.
  • Comfortable managing scheduling, payroll, and digital meal service technology such as HealthTouch or similar patient meal ordering systems.
  • Experienced working in a unionized environment.
  • Hands-on, organized, and proactive with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Flexible and willing to work a rotating schedule, including weekend coverage.

Qualifications & Requirements

Minimum Education Requirement - Associate's Degree or equivalent experienceMinimum Management Experience - 2 years Minimum Functional Experience – 1 year work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.
