About This Opportunity:
Oversees the day to day activities ofthe food pantry to include providing clients with intake paperwork, making copies of client documentation, and entering client data into client database; performs intake assessments with food pantry clients; recertifies existing clients in accordance with food pantry guidelines; distributes food; provides training for volunteers assigned to the food pantry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receives, greets and announces clients in a courteous and tactful manner; provides assistance to clients accessing Social Services by answering questions and providing instructions and referrals.
- Determines food pantry eligibility and informs potential clients of program guidelines; informs qualified candidates of required documentation needed for the pantry interview; provides agency referrals to those that do not qualify for pantry assistance.
- Performs intake assessments with food pantry clients that are new to the program and recertifies existing clients; provides agency referrals to assist with needs identified during intake.
- Distributes food to eligible food pantry clients; ensures food pantry is stocked daily; communicates with warehouse staff on Food Pantry needs.
- Coordinates the retrieval, storage, and distribution of food and commodities for the program.
- Determines the appropriate amount of food to order for the program; maintains and organizes an adequate inventory of food and supplies for the Food Program; ensures the supply meets the needs of the program; informs Corps Officers of supplies needed; prepares records and charts to be used to facilitate/document the distribution of food and supplies to clients.
- Receives and prepares receipts for non-monetary donations, packages, airline tickets, express mail and items delivered to the lobby; notifies proper individuals of item arrival by telephone and/or E-mail; maintains proper records of all food donations.
- Records client information and statistical information by completing data entry into the Harmony database; ensures the accuracy and completeness of the same.
- Prepares weekly pantry reports to be submitted to supervisor which include food pantry data.
- Serves as liaison to program volunteers assigned to the food pantry; provides training to volunteers on food pantry process and data entry into Harmony Database; monitors food pantry process to ensure volunteers are providing the service in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Receives, responds to and assists people requesting social service assistance; gives applications to potential clients and provides assistance in completing the same; reviews computer records to determine if client's records are already on file; photocopies leases, pay stubs, identification cards and other materials.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Ability to meet attendance requirements.
- Ability to read, write and communicate the English language effectively.
- Ability to perform routine mathematical computations.
- Ability to plan and coordinate the distribution of food and commodities to the public.
- Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and climbing.
- Duties are usually performed by combinations of sitting, standing and walking on a frequent change basis.
- Moderate amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying light (up to 25 lbs.) frequently.

What We Are Looking For In You:
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- and
- One year providing experience working in a social or public service environment, with experience assisting the public preferred,
- or
- Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities.
Certifications:
- Valid state driver's license
- Food Handler's certificate
