Food Plant Reliability Mechanic (HVAC/Refrigeration & Utilities)

About the Opportunity

Join our client’s expanding maintenance team at a Bell Gardens, CA food manufacturing facility producing Chinese and other Asian foods. This second-shift position focuses on reliability, uptime, and safe operations across utilities and production assets.

What You’ll Tackle

• Lead and collaborate with a team of mechanics to prioritize work and reduce unplanned downtime.
• Troubleshoot and repair HVAC, refrigeration, and industrial heating/cooling systems; perform freezer inspections and corrective actions.
• Interpret blueprints/schematics; install and bend conduit; run PVC; verify sensor performance.
• Work confidently on electrical systems: 3-phase at 420 V and up to 480 V; AC/DC circuits; wire new motors into production lines.
• Maintain and repair mechanical equipment: conveyors, cutting machinery, punch presses, boilers, chillers, motors, rotors, shafts, bearings, gears, and blade installations.
• Service hydraulic and pneumatic systems for reliable operation.
• Perform forklift and reach truck maintenance, repair, and operation as needed.
• Handle facility maintenance tasks across the plant to support safe, efficient production.
• Apply MIG and stick welding skills when required.
• Uphold GMPs and excellent personal hygiene; adapt to the unique demands of a food production environment.

What You Bring

• 6+ years in industrial maintenance within food, beverage, or bottling environments.
• Demonstrated leadership and a team-first approach.
• Strong HVAC/refrigeration background and freezer troubleshooting/repair experience.
• Electrical competence at 420 V and up to 480 V, 3-phase; AC/DC circuits.
• Blueprint/schematic reading and hands-on skills with sensors, conduit, and PVC.
• Hydraulic/pneumatic troubleshooting and repair.
• Proficiency across plant mechanical systems and utilities.
• Forklift and reach truck maintenance, repair, and operation.
• MIG and stick welding experience is a plus.
