The Night Food Safety Technician is responsible for ensuring that all food safety and sanitation standards are maintained during night shift operations in the packing plant. This role supports compliance with regulatory requirements, company policies, and customer specifications by monitoring processes, conducting inspections, and documenting food safety practices.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct routine food safety and sanitation inspections throughout the facility during production and non-production hours
Monitor critical control points (CCPs) and ensure compliance with HACCP plans
Verify proper cleaning and sanitation procedures are completed and documented
Perform pre-operational inspections before production starts
Collect and document environmental swabs, product samples, and test results
Ensure compliance with GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices) by all employees
Identify and report food safety risks, deviations, or non-conformances
Work closely with sanitation, production, and maintenance teams to correct issues
Maintain accurate and detailed records of inspections, audits, and corrective actions
Assist in internal audits and regulatory inspections as needed
Provide guidance and support to night shift staff on food safety practices
Ensure proper handling, storage, and labeling of products and materials
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required
Previous experience in food safety, quality assurance, or food manufacturing preferred
Knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, SSOPs, and food safety regulations (FDA/USDA)
Strong attention to detail and observational skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Good written and verbal communication skills
Basic computer skills for data entry and reporting
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
Ability to work in cold, wet, or refrigerated environments
Ability to lift up to [insert weight, e.g., 40 lbs] as needed
Exposure to machinery, noise, and varying temperatures
Night shift work, including weekends and holidays as required
Preferred Skills
Experience with food safety auditing systems
Familiarity with environmental monitoring programs
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
Compensation: [Min $17.50 - Max $19.00]
