Description
Primary Purpose:
Under the general supervision of an administrator, prep food, set up serving stations, serve food and clean serving area. Provide student supervision in the cafeteria.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or GED certificate
Food service certification
Special Knowledge/Skills
Knowledge of health and safety involving food preparation and serving
Ability to work with at-risk and special needs students
Ability to work within a specialized behavior management system
Ability to learn, utilize and control student behavior through verbal de-escalation techniques
Ability to communicate effectively orally as well as written expression
General knowledge of computer systems and software applications
Ability to learn and utilize specialized therapeutic restraint techniques to control student behavior, when appropriate
Food services coordination
Experience:
Experience in food service operations
Experience working with students with special needs and students in at-risk situations
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Assist in inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment for cafeteria.
Assist in keeping administrative records and preparing required reports including lunch and breakfast reports.
Prepare and maintain kitchen facilities in order to meet standards imposed by City of Houston, Harris County.
Maintain accurate student lunch rosters
Maintain student accounts.
Prepare and call-in daily meal counts.

Assure standards of sanitation are met while preparing, handling and serving food.
Clean food service area, utensils, dishwasher, and all cafeteria equipment.
Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations, and state and local board policy.
Participate in in-service training programs, faculty meetings, and special events.
Treat all staff with dignity, integrity and respect.
